i like this boy in my class but i don't know how to go about asking him out. should i ask my friends to ask him out for me? is that a bad idea? i am so confused!

Do not make your friends ask for you. That is not a good a idea. Can i ask you something, do you talk to this boy or not? Because if not wait a while and becomes friends with him first then see if you grow to like him in a boyfriend material way. Did i help any?
